How to Use a Bulgarian Company with Online Platforms?

How to Use a Bulgarian Company with Platforms Like Stripe, PayPal, and Others?

Using a Bulgarian company with international payment platforms is entirely possible. Here’s what you need to know to get started the right way:

1. Register Your Company in Bulgaria

The first step is to officially register your company. You will need:

  • UIC (Unified Identification Code)
  • Company bank account
  • Registered business address
  • VAT number (not mandatory, but recommended for online business)

2. Open a Business Bank Account

Choose a Bulgarian or other EU-based bank. Modern fintech solutions are also suitable alternatives, such as:

  • Wise Business
  • Revolut Business
  • Payoneer

They simplify international payments and offer more flexibility.

3. Set Up Stripe – Note: Proper Accounting Is Key

Stripe officially supports Bulgarian companies. To register:

  • Visit stripe.com
  • Select “Bulgaria” as your country
  • Enter company details and IBAN
  • Link your website

Important: In Bulgaria, Stripe is treated as a bank account. This means:

  • Every incoming and outgoing Stripe transaction must be recorded separately
  • Fees, refunds, and all account movements must be tracked
  • Transfers from Stripe to the bank alone are not enough for accounting purposes

Mistakes in this area lead to tax risks. Many entrepreneurs overlook this crucial detail.

4. Link PayPal to Your Company

Create a PayPal Business account using your company’s data:

  • Enter company name, UIC, and address
  • Add a bank account or card

PayPal works properly with Bulgarian companies, though there may be restrictions depending on the country. Accounting requirements are the same as with Stripe – each transaction must be individually traceable.

5. Work with Other Platforms

You can use your Bulgarian company on:

  • Shopify
  • Amazon
  • Etsy
  • Gumroad
  • Paddle

Always use valid company details during registration and follow local invoicing and tax regulations.

6. Organize Your Accounting Properly

Every platform — Stripe, PayPal, or others — must be properly accounted for:
